We are delighted to welcome you to The Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland website.
The Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland is voluntary organization which aims to encourage and develop excellence in the teaching and learning of speech, drama, voice, communication and effective speaking.
We provide support to teachers and students through publications, events, materials with a forum to meet other teachers, to promote speech and drama activities in Ireland. This is done through our Workshops, Summer School and Annual Drama Festival. In addition, we also publish a newsletter entitled 'Voices'.
Our workshops take place in February, May and November. Speakers have included Joanna Parkes, Tom Doherty, and Kathryn Coffee
Our Summer School takes place in September. This entails key speakers from the world of drama. Previous speakers have included Professor James Dodding, Andy Hynes, Tom Doherty and Jim Culleton. The highlight is usually a visit to the theatre and a great chat over dinner.
Our Annual Festival of Drama provides our members with a competitive platform to present the work they do with their students. This is a most enjoyable weekend with children from age four to eighteen years taking part. The Festival has gone from strength to strength over the years and is a highlight in the organizations' calendar.
We would be delighted to hear from you if you are interested in joining.
